    GT1 body work modifications.

Next month I'm going to make a full carbon fiber rear clam with fastback out if carbon fiber and modify the front wheel arches so our suspension can have more travel.

    I estimate that we'll shave off 50lbs.+

The formula is for every 10lbs. we
remove, it's worth about a tenth of a second through the turns.

FWIW, we just learned that one clam shell doesn't just drop into place of another. Possibly tooling or +/- of tolerances somewhere in the chassis, bodywork or a combination of both.
We're going to make this a two piece. The fastback will be one part which we will adjust the panel with a shim, the rest will be the balance of the rear clam with center section gutted.

sounds like your now doing a clam much like I did mine... mine was around 40lbs lighter than stock but I took the opportunity to beef up around the wing supports so my wing was better supported.
Don't forget you also need moulds to make the inside sections, also I recommend you foam core the wheel arch sections and reinforce the final layer with kevlar to completely prevent star crazing from rocks etc.

I have just 100% sorted the potential differences in fitting by making moulds and a complete carbon tub as well complete with V weave over the entire car!

    Really nice work, Andy!!!!

I have a minimum weight required to race in GT. So we can't have the lightest car, unfortunately. The rules call for us to be 2650lbs. after the race, so were approximately 2750lbs+ starting.

The rear of my car is far too heavy and we will have to add weight to compensate for what we lost from the carbon.
I appreciate the advice as you've already done this. This gives me an idea of weight bias.

I've completed CAD drawings for the new body work and will more than likely build the body next month.

It's been a difficult week since I came back from holiday and 3 days of putting out fires with no time to eat or breathe.

My meeting today was about DV and I made firm decisions-

DV will arise again once the sequential gear box is completed.
Till then, we have more help to give DV a new look....

    stay tuned...work begins next week....

    removing the engine today.......
as expected, the sequential is still being worked on, so I will continue with things that I can control.

I have some designs in mind that in line of the GT3 body styling, but I'd like to see what you all think looks cool, but still Noble.

    Please post...
