From the looks of it, the exhaust and other parts have had better days. All of these are maintenance items, IMO.

I spoke to the owner today and there's a lot to be learned from him. He maintains the car himself with post track inspections and routine maintenance of normal components, fluid changes, nut & bolt etc....... this car is near bullet proof. The power has been turned down and from what we see, it's under 400whp. Yes, there's a direct correlation to power and reliability, no doubt. Anyway you look at it, 9000 track miles is A LOT!!!!

Compression was near even across the board, less than 2% leak down and no vacuum leaks at all.

This noble makes good use of the basic mods. for track: oil restrictors, hardline turbo oil drains, tons of insulation on the exhaust (i can't stand that stuff. IMO, it works for about 10 minutes), proper baffling in the oil pan (yup, we supplied that to him), dual exhaust (ugly, but it works) , brake ducting, slightly larger injectors (not necessary at the low power level, but it's there) and a very mild tune.

There are plenty of cars that I know won't do 9000 track miles, even with maintenance. This just goes to show you how strong these motors are. One gear box in all the years he's owned it is so little.

that looks like Stew's car, and with 9000 track miles, Id say that must be his in for some freshening up !

Wes, nothing gets by you! It just made so much sense to ship the car to Hoover at this point. I thought I knew my car, but he has already found a number of things that need to be addressed for continued safety (and speed!) at the track. Hoover is too nice to make fun of some of my DIY components, like the ABS splitter (yeah, it's heavy!) and self-cut, self-installed Lexan windshield.

ps- Great title, "Raceteration"! It is certainly no trailer queen.

And that's what makes these cars so magical. You can drive them, track them over and over again. Lee designed cars that are to be driven.

As most of you know, we normally remove the gear box from the side, but since were freshening up this install, we've decided to remove the motor so that all the hardware gets replaced during reinstallation. We will also inspect the rod bearings while the motor is out.

For now, it's quite a bit of cleaning and inspection of components.

These cars handle better with more front weight, so the splitter not only gives you downforce but the added weight, although not optimal position, still helps.

You've really got to be proud of the 9000 miles!
We have one other customer that runs his own private enduros. He tracks his car in 6 full hour increments.
