    Falb's Q1GT Race Car

I normally like to use the blog section for these builds so that we don't jock for space on the topics thread, but to get this section rolling, his build is the perfect start!!!

John and I have emailed back and forth for over a year. We've made him a few parts for his Q1 and he installed them with much success and very much to his satisfaction. Next thing we see is a Radical, then a turbo Panamera, Spec. Miata and two other race cars all in the same year, not in any particular order. John told me that he's never had a car that he hasn't modified. During the Sema convention, I found that to be true in his 700+hp Panamera. With all four of us in his car, it was fast, realllllyyyy fast!!!!!!!

The Q1 has excellent behavior on the track, so why not track it more, build it more and set it up for more power!!!! Oh, heck. John told us to set it up for full racing and also install a "kitchen sink" while were at it.

Since we have a couple of Rossions at the shop, we didn't need his car to start the journey. Some of the parts we already had tooling, so we could start the build without even having his car. Actually, he still has his car and we have all the parts.

    Here's the game plan:
    1. Strip the car of any and all things not racing.
    2. Add all the parts to keep the driver safe. ie...side door instrusion bars and kevlar scatter shield.
    3. Dry sump
    4. Single Turbo
    5. Full stand-alone ecu.
    6. Full modded transmission.
    7. Plenum (this is the closest to a kitchen sink we could come up with).
    8. Clear Fastback
    9. Gigantic intercooler

The direction he's headed is obvious.

In the future, with the help of Ian Grunes, President of Rossion, we hope to build more of these and/or provide components for others that want to build themselves.

Here are pics. of what the car looks like now and a few design renderings that are ideas of what John would like to see.
Once we start building it, it will be all business.

Oh this is going to be a great build and I am very excited. The good news is that the Q1 is running great and I am having fun with it until the drivetrain is ready to go (and my 12C is in the garage). I have been having so much fun in the Radical and actually won the last four races with two races where I had the fastest lap of the race amongst ALL cars, including the V8 powered SR8s with 200 more bhp. If your having trouble sleeping watch some of these videos.

The easy answer is the Spring Mountain sportscar series where we run in a bracket formula to make all the cars relatively even. There are NASCARs, Ferrari Challenge cars, Viper Cup, and Porsche Cup cars. This series is easy and great for understanding relative performance and getting the car dialed in. In SCCA I will follow our fearless leader, Grapeman. I would think the the ITE would be better but there is less competition and I think he is running a GT series this year. Also, NASA has much better classes for these types of cars where you are classed based on weight and power. I really just want to have fun with the car and make it realize it's full potential....and get videos

we will make a schedule of racing events we will attend, hopefully they will cross over and we can end up at the track at the same time.
most of my DV parts have arrived already.
