    3.5 ecoboost

the engines are not available till Jan.
A long block is about 6XXX.00. That includes NOTHING.

I might buy one and take it apart when it's available.
I've got tons of pictures of the internals, but would love to try tuning one for power.

    Here are Dyno charts.

I think the limiting factor are the turbos. Also, 6000 rpm redline.

    Thoughts?

400 instant ft/lbs of torque is not bad. I'm willing to bet that they limited redline to 6K because the turbos were limiting the engine so much at that point that most folks would shift before then. You can see how fast torque falls off after 5K. A real turbo might wake up this beast. The wiki says it is GDI and comes with variable cams. You are going to need a real EMS to handle this baby.

    I agree, Ricky!
It needs real turbos to pull up top.

I think it's time to start another generation of research for our future cars.

I think the low boost threshold (instant torque) is from the GT15 turbos. No questions way out of the desired efficiency islands at higher RPM's.
Last time I checked with Motec they didn't even have a GDI controller ready as a integrated product.

    I agree, Gregg.

Moving forward, this may be a good package for a mid-engine transaxle set up.
Today, I found a place that happen to have one of these engines and willing to sell to us with harness and ecu.

The Roush version, or OEM unit?

    the OEM unit.
it will be a good starting point to get a baseline with different turbos.
